It was announced that the Paddock will be closing.
It was voted to order new Christmas decorations (8 votes yes out of 10). They were 33% discount which saves the chamber $1000. It will cost $2211 plus shipping. The bill will more than likely come after Jubilee Days. There was discussion regarding ordering more lights, some felt we should do something that the town could benefit from all year while others felt we needed to finish the Christmas light project before moving on the others.
Sue Hood recommended sending out reminders to members that have not sent in their dues for this year yet.
The town was in favor of having a sign on the square but it would need to be approved by the “Town Square Committee.” We also will need permission from the DOT. There has been one resident that strongly opposes having a sign on the square. Merv Kilmer suggested a different location. The idea was given that perhaps State Road 109 would be a better location as it may be easier to get DOT approval.
The budget committee will consist of Rusty Johnson, Neil Shaneyfelt, Steve Brooks, Amy Blackwell, Sally Conyers, and Joni Roberts.
The 17th of July has already been reserved on the square so we will not be able to do our music event on that evening.
The Business Expo has been cancelled.
The Legion will do horses and flags for Jubilee Days again this year. They would like to honor the Korean War veterans. The chamber will pay for ½ plaques in the veterans honor.
Greg Rhodes is willing to announce the parade this year.
On Sat., April 10, the fish wagon remodel will be held at Rusty Johnson’s shop at 1 p.m.
Historic Knightstown walk is June 12. Angela Tielking is the contact for this event.
Chris May will be the guest speaker at the Citizen of the Year Banquet.
We need volunteers for Jubilee Days and Fall Fest.
The Hoosier Gym had an excellent response to the billboard on final four week. Neil guessed 1000 visitors! A TV station from Raleigh, North Carolina came.
There are still a couple of dates open for the fish wagon.
Sally Conyers is the Jubilee Day Chairperson. The parade will start at 11 a.m. or 1 p.m. Bank hours and DOT may conflict with the 11 time frame. Scholarships are due 4/15. Fall Fest will be September 11 and 12.
Beth with Main Street is raising money for planters and trying to dress up the downtown.
Danny Webber with Knightstown Crime Watch announced he will no longer be crime watch president and the new president is Jim Durham. You can contact him at jim.durham@embarqmail.com or his cell number is 317-439-8833. Danny will now be the public relations director.
