New Business:

The Chamber received a Thank You from the Knightstown employees for the lunch provided at the American Legion. Thirteen workers out of forty-one participated. This sold $91.00 worth of food.

Neil Shaneyfelt gave a fish wagon report. Fish lotto will be February 25th at 6:30pm in the Hoosier Gym. In case of a weather emergency it will be rescheduled March 11 at 6:30pm at the Hoosier Gym. Organizations will pay a $50.00 deposit that evening which covers the weekend for their organization to rent the wagon. Neil encouraged Chamber members to attend. Also, the gentleman from the Board of Health called Neil and told him he would be happy to come and review rules with everyone at that time. Neil also mentioned we need to get the permit from the Henry County Health Department as well. April 9th and 10th will be the first weekend for the fish wagon. The plan is to get the fish wagon out early and power wash and lay new floor in it the end of March. Rusty Johnson will bring in floor samples to the next meeting. Neil would also like us to keep an eye out for a large cooler since ours is leaking where you drain the water.

The signs at the ends of town also need updated. It was suggested perhaps a logo? Preferably something that can stay up about a month at a time. Amy Blackwell mentioned putting up the Business Expo which is April 10th.

The Expo will be at the Hoosier Gym from 10-2. The idea to have Taste of Knightstown was brought up since it will be lunch time.

Neil Shaneyfelt brought up that the sign on 109 is leaning.

The newsletter that is free to members and shared with the New Castle Chamber is seen by over 300 people. You can unsubscribe to this at any time.

Fred Goldcart with the motorcycle drill team contacted the Chamber office and would like to participate in the Jubilee Days parade. June 2nd-5th is Jubilee Days. Booths are for non profits only at no charge.

Town Board Liaisons: Jean Kraus, Bill Windsor, Steve Brooks

Liaisons for the Home: Sue Hood and Jean Kraus.

Sue Hood has been in contact with David Shorter of the National Guard Academy and he would like to have a meeting at the home with the chamber to discuss their needs. Cadets have to do forty hours of community service and they will let us know what they can do. He wants the town to know that they are accessible. The board decided to try for March 9th at 6:30pm at the home. This will count as the membership meeting for March. The board will still meet on March 4th at 5:30 at Ameriana Bank.

Jean Kraus mentioned that the American Legion offered to have meetings free of charge.

The Greenfield Reporter offered the chamber a monthly page with six businesses for $50 a piece in color.

Full Chamber Meeting at 6:30 p.m.

Attendees - Jean Kraus, Sue & Daryl Hood, Norm Carroll, Rusty & Debbie Johnson, Neil & Penny Shaneyfelt, Amy Blackwell, Joni Roberts, Sally Conyers, Erin Winters, Lin Ebbert, Steve Brooks, Bill Windsor, Tina Williams, Dan Webber, Jim Durham, Emily McCorkle, Beth Moll

The Chamber welcomed our new member Tina Williams who is opening an Edward Jones branch in Knightstown. Jim Durham was also introduced as the new Knightstown Crime Watch president.

President Amy Blackwell encouraged everyone to sign up for committees and to get their applications and checks turned in.

Fish Lotto will be at the Hoosier Gym February 25th at 6:30pm with March 11th as a backup for bad weather.

The newsletter for advertising was discussed. It is free of charge and members can unsubscribe at any time. Over 300 people see each letter.

Amy will be having a Business Expo committee meeting at her shop February 12th at 10:00 am.

Amy would like to change our website and add an attraction icon with a map of all locations and attractions instead of just a few of the businesses.

Sue talked to David Shorter from the National Guard Academy and he would like to meet with the chamber and let us know their needs. Sue will try to schedule this March 9th at 6:30 at the Wheeler Building at the home.

Sue also discussed Joni Michaels from Fox 59 trying to start a 30 minute series called Fork in the Road. She hasn’t sold it yet but if she does Knightstown will be the first one. It shows the different attractions in town. They filmed at the Café, Hoosier Gym, and Veterans Memorial.

Hancock Harvest Council has offered to help the chamber with the Farmer’s Market. There is grant money available. It was also mentioned to have the Farmer’s market a different day than Saturday since some people may be at places like Greenfield. Someone also brought up having the school do fundraisers through this. Beth Moll’s cousin wrote a book on Farmer’s Market as well that may be beneficial to the Chamber.

Sue talked to Gary Riley and he will let her know if there are any billboards available and what the cost would be

It was asked if the Hoosier Gym ever received postcards of the billboard and no one knew.

Rusty Johnson proposed getting a new sign, perhaps on the square that would be computerized and would have general information. Steve Brooks thought the Chamber looked in to this about seven years ago and it was very costly. Rusty will look in to this and let us know what he finds out in March.

Knightstown Crime Watch hog roast is April 24th. Booths are available at $50. Tony and Rory from "America’s Got Talent" will be there from 12-2:30 pm.

Monday, February 8th the Crime Watch is having Hancock Deputy Nick Ernest speak at the gym regarding drug involvement.

Crime Watch also has a website www.knightstowncrimewatch.org.

Lastly we discussed having a concert on the square July 17th.
