~ MINUTES for MARCH 4, 2010 ~
Board of Directors Meeting at 5:45 p.m.
Attendees - Sally Conyers, Amy Blackwell, Neil Shaneyfelt, Bill Windsor, Steve Brooks, Rusty Johnson, Norm Carroll, Terry Guerin, Erin Winters, Lin Ebbert
Treasurers Report - Sally presented the Treasurer's report for review and it was approved.
Jubilee Days will be June 2-5. Lois Brooks will not be able to do the queen contest this year as school will still be in session.
The Citizen of the Year banquet will be held on June 1. Rusty Johnson and Lin Ebbert volunteered to take care of it this year.
Neil Shaneyfelt pointed out that this will be the 25th anniversary of the filming of The Hoosiers so it is important for everyone to participate in making Jubilee Days a success.
The July 17th idea for music on the square has been tabled for now since this hasn’t been very successful or profitable in the past.
The Business Expo will be April 10 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The food businesses that agree to do Taste of Knightstown will need to sign a form of commitment so we know we can count on them not to pull out last minute. There was discussion on how many tables will fit in the gym, if we need to get health permits, etc. Admission to the expo will be free. We will sell tickets for food. The idea was thrown around to charge $5 per food ticket.
Rusty Johnson brought a floor sample for the fish wagon. The cost would be approximately $430 and we would purchase extra squares in case some would need replaced in the future. Rusty Johnson, Neil Shaneyfelt, and Steve Brooks plan to do this in the first or second week of April.
Amanda Langdon has resigned from the board.
State Farm Insurance is looking for a qualified individual to take over the Knightstown office as Randy is no longer working here.
Rusty Johnson gave a report on the possible community sign on the square. He brought in brochures for two different companies. It would be 36 inches tall and 6 foot long. We would need to decide whether or not it has brick around it or stands on a pedestal. Electricity would cost $15 per month. The sign would come with a computer package. Cain Signs for one color would cost $9,200.00 and for full color would cost $11,100.00. Myers would cost $5,512.00 for one color and $6,800.00 for tri color. There would need to be a maintenance contract for these. The board feels that until we get the town approval we cannot go any further with this. Rusty Johnson will present this at the town meeting on March 18.
Full Chamber Meeting at 6:30 p.m.
