~ MINUTES for OCTOBER 7, 2010 ~
Board of Directors Meeting at 5:45 p.m.
Board Members in Attendance - Amy Blackwell, Steve Brooks, Sally Conyers, Lin Ebbert, Sue Hood, Merv Kilmer, Jean Kraus, Neil Shaneyfelt, Erin Winters
Membership in Attendance - Penny Shaneyfelt
Treasurers Report - The fish wagon was up in profits for Fall Fest a total of $423. Jubilee Days and Fall Fest both made higher profits in 2010 than 2009. This was even with the price of some supplies increasing.
Minutes - We have NEW MEMBERS!! They are the following: Curves, Carl & Nadine Spence, Indiana Winecraft, Big Brothers & Big Sisters
Jean Kraus passed out cards regarding a wine tasting on October 9th from 11-4 from Indiana Winecraft.
Jack with Embarq notified Amy that the chamber can get free internet service through them at the chamber office. Next time Amy sees him she will ask him to stop by Shaneyfelt’s office to see if they could get free internet there since they answer all of chamber calls for us. He also told Jean Kraus that Embarq would sponsor all they can for us.
We need to do something with the CD at Citizens Bank before it rolls over for another year. The problem is Joni’s name is on it. Citizens Bank is no longer a chamber member. Merv Kilmer brought up the idea that Don Dick is back in that office and perhaps someone should approach him in regards to renewing the membership. (Steve Brooks nominated Merv to handle this task.) If Citizens does not become a member the idea was given to close that CD and move it to Ameriana Bank.
It was decided we would send out membership invoices earlier this year. We will send them out before the end of the year. We will also send as many as we can by email.
Amy received an email from Stacy Cox that our bill for the year for the website will be around $110.00. Amy said this is a very reasonable price.
Amy sent a basket to Indiana Winecraft from the chamber.
Sue Hood brought up that we should make a certificate of some sort for Hancock Communications. One idea was a “Making Knightstown a Better Place” certificate? Sue thought we had done that for someone else before as well.
The fish wagon will be open this weekend and next weekend and then it will be closed for the winter.
Spookapalooza is October 30 from 2-4. This is downtown Knightstown and it is for businesses to give out candy. Amy is also donating trophies for the best costumes.
Erin Winters and Steve Brooks terms are up this year.
So far Steve Brooks is on the nominating committee.
Someone also mentioned that Penny Shaneyfelt should be on the board since she answers all phone calls and is so active with the chamber.
It was also brought up that members should be able to cast ballots at the chamber office instead of one hour before meeting and one hour after the meeting. The bylaws need to be checked in reference to this.
We need a replacement for Norm Carroll of the Legion.
Amy wants to really focus on building the chamber with active members. We are going to try to do a membership drive at the shelter house.
Meeting adjourned.
