Sally welcomed new Board member, Shirley Hutson, owner of Curves to the meeting.

The contract has been received from Jessop Amusements for Jubilee Days 2011 which will be held on the Town Square Wednesday through Saturday, June 1–4. The Chamber will receive 20% of the gross from each ride and $50 for each concession stand. They have requested that the port-o-johns be delivered to the Town Square on Monday, May 30, since their crew will begin arriving on Sunday, May 29. Armbands will be available on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, 6-10 p.m., and Saturday, 1-5 p.m. or 6-10 p.m.

Webmaster Stacy Cox contacted Sally requesting copies of meeting minutes from November and December 2010 and January 2011 so they can be posted on the Chamber website. Copies of all minutes also need to be kept in the file at the Chamber office. Sally will check with Lin Ebbert, Chamber secretary, to retrieve the requested information. There was also a request that the Chamber secretary e-mail meeting minutes to the President to be sent to Board members.

Sally passed around the sign-up sheet for Committees for 2011. The Finance Committee was added to this list as well as a Public Relations Committee.

The Lottery for the Fish Wagon for the summer of 2011 will be held on Thursday, March 10, at 6:30 p.m. in the meeting room of The Hoosier Gym (Adams Street entrance). In case of inclement weather on March 10, the Lottery would be held on March 17 (same time and location). The Henry County Health Officer will be invited to attend to instruct renters of current health requirements. Also a reminder that the Fish Wagon is available to KNIGHTSTOWN NOT FOR PROFITS ONLY! This lottery date will be published in the Banner.

New Officers for 2011 - Sue Hood made a motion to nominate Sally Conyers as President and Treasurer and Jean Kraus as Vice President. Shirley Hutson seconded. Motion carried. The current secretary, Lin Ebbert, would retain her position.

Sally and Jean have volunteered to chair Jubilee Days and organize the Parade. They have, however, asked for help from everyone! Jean said hopefully the Korean War veterans could be honored at the Parade. They had hoped to do this at the 2010 Parade however it did not materialize. The Chamber had voted to pay one-half of the cost for plaques to recognize the veterans. The veterans would need to be a member of the Knightstown community and/or the Knightstown American Legion Post. Jerry Jordan will help Jean gather names of the veterans.

Jean Kraus will be in charge of working with Jay Jessop in coordinating the amusements with the Knightstown not for profit booths. She stressed the importance of finding out exactly what local non-profits will be selling in their booths so as not to interfere with the contract we have with Jessop Amusements. Once the non-profits have been approved for what they will be offering, they are not to make any changes!.

The Citizen of the Year Banquet will be held on Tuesday, May 31, at the Hoosier Gym beginning at 6:30 p.m. Rusty and Debbie Johnson and Bill and Sally Windsor will work on this committee.

The Queen Contest will be Wednesday, June 1, at 6:30 p.m. also at the Hoosier Gym.

A letter will be sent to area clubs and organizations asking for interest in chairing activities for the week, i.e. Baby Contest, Pet Parade, Cake Walk, etc.

Cindy Kiner owner of HR Connection and Jeff Fausnaugh of J&M Mechanical were introduced as new members of the Chamber.

Cindy Kiner is working the Henry County Relay for Life which will be held June 24 and 25 at the New Castle High School football field. The kick-off will be Thursday, February 17, at Mancino’s in New Castle at 6:00 p.m. for anyone interested in forming a team. Cindy just recently moved to Knightstown from Hancock County. She has a home-based human resource consultation business as well as being an AFLAC insurance representative.

Jeff Fausnaugh of J&M Mechanical was also present. His material handling installation business began in January 2009 in Knightstown. It started with two employees and has grown to 13. He has worked nationwide including Canada and Mexico.

Shirley Hutson of Knightstown is the new owner of Curves. She has worked at Curves for seven years and became the owner in August 2010. Curves is a fitness center for women located in downtown Knightstown.
